THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 30

Musings of an Aging Lesbian We put our holiday tree up yesterday. Funny thing for a Jewish woman but I love it. We buy ornaments wherever we travel so we have years’ worth of ornaments. Our tree is decorated in those ornaments, bringing back the memories of those trips every year. The tree – and

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 29

Musings of an Aging Lesbian Family thanksgiving yesterday. Same crew, same food, same drama. I just enjoyed the gifts of the day and stayed out of the emotional gravy!  Gratitude Day 29 Life is full of surprises, some fun, some not so much. For as crazy as our world is right now, our job is

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 28

Musings of an Aging Lesbian Happy Thanksgiving, all… enjoy your day!  Gratitude Day 28  Today I’m grateful for a loving, tender, adventurous spouse, for my children and grands, for family of origin and family of choice, for my students from whom I learned so much, for my lesbian and gay foreparents and activists who showed

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 27

Musings of an Aging Lesbian Preparations for Thanksgiving…and yet I wonder how this holiday even came about. I know it was a time of gratitude for almost all religions after harvests and that it’s basically an English tradition from the 16th century. According to some historians, the first celebration of Thanksgiving in North America occurred

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 26

Musings of an Aging Lesbian My musings happened on the golf course. No one wants to hear exactly what I mused about but it wasn’t pretty…AAAAaaarrrggghhh!  Gratitude Day 26  Friends, shared food, rotten golf…a good day indeed! I invite you to add that for which you are grateful today. Rudyard Kipling said: If history were taught

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 24

Musings of an Aging Lesbian One of my favorite movies is on. Yep…Sex and the City. Strange for an old lesbian but, well, I love those women!  Gratitude Day 24  Today I’m grateful that I learned this saying: “be with family in a way that’s safe for you and respectful of them.” Holidays are often

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 23

Musings of an Aging Lesbian I was asked in which place I prefer to live: Sequim or Palm Springs. Each certainly has its pros and cons. Pros for Sequim: it’s insane beauty, the fragrance of the air, our boat, our friends, our beautiful, cozy, sweet home which inspires me to write and which has full

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 22

Musings of an Aging Lesbian Yesterday was such a good day. We went to the grocery store to buy turkeys and ham for the LGBT food bank, exchanged some theater tickets, went to physical therapy, then visited a couple of dear friends who are the only lesbians in an assisted living facility. I’ve also been

THIS DAY IN LGBT HISTORY – NOVEMBER 21

Musings of an Aging Lesbian Last night, Kelly and I hosted 12 friends for a soup and debate night. We made two soups, a chili, and a kick-ass salad. The evening was based on the Democrat presidential candidate debates. So the conversation was lively. We were all on the same side, just supported different candidates.
