It’s 2020. The year of clarity, maybe? It’s going to be bnoth gtought and interesting poliically, so there’s probably no better time to turn positivity into a 2020 habit. I’ll offer an affirmation each week (maybe even more often…as needed!) to help us tackle us goals and perhaps even our sanity.
Today’s affirmation: I am ready. For everything.
Ann Lamott decided to compile a list of everything she “knows for sure. There’s so little truth in the popular culture, and it’s good to be sure of a few things.” She gives the example of being 61 but feeling like 47, the age “I like to think of myself as being.” I am SO there with her. I’m nearly 73 and feel like 47-ish, regardless that I was born in 1947. She adds as an aside: “it might have been helpful if I hadn’t followed the skin care rules of the ’60s, which involved getting as much sun as possible while slathered in baby oil and basking in the glow of a tinfoil reflector shield.” I know! I did that, too, but I used a mish-mash of baby oil, coco butter (I had to melt the stick first), and lemon. I sported the best tan in the ‘hood for years. Today I have the melanoma and basal surgical scars to prove it. One thing’s for sure for me: if I get diagnosed with a terminal disease, I’m going out with a tan!
